Hard Core

Hard Core

I came across this review of The Spirit of Stone exhibition on Art Jewelry Forum. I have two pieces on display as part of the International Art Jewellery competition, at the South Karelia Museum, Lappeenranta, Finalnd, until 8th January 2012.

Asimi!

Finally went back to Edinburgh to get some photos of my work in Asimi on George St! Love the display they have done with our work. It's up until 5th September so if you are passing by go and have a look!

I HAVE A DEGREE

Happy days, I finally have a degree. And I must say I am incredibly happy with my results! The degree show opens this Friday with a friends and family view, and then to the public on Saturday at 10AM. I will upload some photos from the show soon. In the meantime, I still have CDs to burn, press packs to make, my display to organise and jewellery and drawings to price! Busy busy busy...

Finished!

We finished hanging our shows on the rather lucky sounding Friday 13th May and are waiting to find out our final results. In the mean time I am working on a few things I'd like to make for the degree show (mainly for me to wear!) I'm also really looking forward to a visit to the Dundee exhibition this week.

New work

Neckpiece Detail (In progress)

This is a sneak peak of a neckpiece I am currently making. At the moment it has about 600 wires on it and resembles a creepy-crawley of some sort. Plan to develop this into other designs but this one will stay simple.

A blast from the past

Bangle (2008) White precious metal wire, oxidised copper.

I'm working late in college justnow and was looking through my old photos on the computer and found these! This was a bangle I made in my first year for the 'Repetition' project. I loved this piece.

First project of 4th year...

Slate!

A recent development in my work is the incorporation of slate. Lovely colour, lovely flat surface, lovely lovely lovely. I'm excited to see where I can take this.

10 weeks to go...

The pressure is beginning to get to us all! The deadline is 10 weeks on Friday.
I am currently trying to work on a million different things at once. Hoping to have my first brooch finished tomorrow (I have sent away two which unfortunately wont be back in time for degree show) and by Friday I should be well on my way to having another two pieces! While my working method may be somewhat erratic and all over the place, it's really exciting when everything starts to come together at once.

My bench has been a constant state of chaos since this semester started. I love it.

The final semester!

My final semester at ECA begins on Monday which is terrifying! I don't want to leave!

Last week I found out that I had been selected to go through to the next stage of the Spirit of Stones competition in Finland which I am so excited about. I've been making two brooches for my entry and I've been told to think about making another accompanying piece, perhaps a ring. However, I need to think about my degree show as well!

I'm carrying on my research work from last semester so I will continue looking at drawing and painting, and enamelled and textured surfaces on metal.

This was a happy accident from last semester which I am developing:

The solder is disgustingly messy! I'm trying to make this so that the panels can move now. Although I'm trying to do a million other things justnow so it might be a while!

Having been inspired by my friends Jojo Norris and Elliott Burns, I have decided to hop back on the blogging bandwagon. However, I will need to actually do some work before I can post it here. Tricky.

In the meantime, these are very good:

P.S I have decided not to continue in the style of my previous posts by divulging in my life story as I am no longer in Korea and therefore my mum and gran don't need to check this to know that I am still alive. It's just a jewellery blog now! How boring.
